Dr. Stephanie Vaughan (Crocco), Ph.D.
Principal Investigator
I am Dr. Stephanie Vaughan, the Principal Investigator of the lab and a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Skidmore College. I received my B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh and my M.A and Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from SUNY Albany. As a memory researcher I focus on the core cognitive psychology topics of learning, memory, and attention. What improves and impedes our ability to remember effectively? How can attention be direction to enhance or interfere with learning? And, what innovative methods can be used in the classroom to enhance memory and attention? My research focuses on answering and exploring these core questions through the use of quantitative methods both in the lab and in applied settings, like the college classroom. Aside from my research interests, I also love to cook, snowboard, and spend time with my cats, friends, and family.

Karina Hall
Senior Research Assistant and Thesis Student
Hi! I'm part of the class of 2025, and I am working towards a double major in math and psychology. I've been a research assistant since my sophomore year, and my senior thesis will explore how active learning can enhance memory. Specifically, I am interested in the "choice effect," which stems from the idea that a sense of agency can enhance memory. I also love baking and work at the IdeaLab on campus!
Rose Luciano
Research Assistant
Hello! I am part of the class of 2027, and I am an undeclared psychology major with a potential double major with philosophy. This is my first semester as a research assistant, but I am very interested in learning the processes and methods involved in it. Aside from this, I enjoy reading and watching classic movies whenever I can catch a free moment.
