This fall was an absolute whirlwind of a semester for all of us. Our professors and students were not only attempting to tackle the myriad of new challenges associated with online learning, but trying to learn and develop innovative virtual research tactics at the same time. Looking back, however, we accomplished a great deal despite the hurdles we faced!
Three of our lab members, Abby, Alex, and Yutai, got to explore virtual experiment programming options, including our new favorite: E' Prime. With their help, we should be all set to begin designing (and hopefully running) some new online experiments this spring.
One of our seniors, Bryanna, was able to start work on her thesis regarding the relationship between social support, stress, and cognition/brain health in older adults. Alongside her underclassman assistant, Olivia, she was able to conduct a literature review to gather key references, develop a quasi-experimental design, and even present her proposed thesis to the psychology department faculty!
And last but certainly not least, Émilie-Anne, Patrick, and Olivia were able to design and publish our new lab website! (Hence this being the first, and only news item). Their hope is that this site will help garner attention to our lab, and hopefully recruit some new members as a result.
All in all, we're all definitely relieved to be done with the first semester of "Zoom University," but equally eager to get moving with our projects come spring semester. Check back in a few weeks for more updates as to what's going on in the lab!
